ART CLUB

Monday 
Ms. Nassau 

 

The EHS Art Club will meet with  Mrs. Nassau on Monday afternoons at 2:15 p.m. in D1.  Some of the activities planned for the 2005-2006 school year include painting murals in designated areas of the school; displaying art work, created by them and other peers, at school and out in the community; continuing to develop and maintain the art department website; visiting museum (s); and creating art redated materials for the graduation ceremony.  This club is for students who are interested in fine art.  You do not have to be an artist yourself to get involved.  Contact Ms. Nassau if you have any questions.

 

 

AS SCHOOLS MATCH WITS

An opportunity to appear on television awaits five individuals (four regulars and an alternate) who will make up the “As Schools Match Wits” team for Enfield High School.  The ‘WITS’ you need are in the subject areas of general knowledge, history, sports, science, words, geography, and “trivia”.  If you have interest and/or strengths in one or more of these areas, plan to try out for the team.  Tryouts are open to anyone from any class. Preparation for appearances on Springfield’s Channel 22 include matches played against our own faculty.

 

  

CLASS NIGHT SLIDE SHOW

Seniors will help produce a slide show presentation of their senior year activities, which will be shown on  Senior Class Night.  The Senior Class Historian will help co-ordinate planned meetings.

 

‘CLOSEUP” TO WASHINGTON

This activity helps the students develop better understanding of our government.  Selected members have the opportunity to go to Washington for a week-long experience studying American government.

DECA is a national high school organization which is part of the marketing education course.  Students attend educational conferences, compete in marketing related fields and organize fund-raisers and field trips.

 

DRAMA 

(LAMPLIGHTERS)

This club will study the different types of dramatic arts and attend performances of each type during the school year.  Several productions will be performed by the club members to the public.  This club teaches students what goes on in the production of a play or musical both on and off stage.  Members will work together to put on a series of one act in the fall and a play or musical in the spring.  The club will have several fund raising events during the year.  This club will meet every three weeks during the school year.

The honors club for those students who have earned enough hours of credit working on the drama productions to qualify for admission.  This group is part of and works with the Drama Club to produce plays.

EHS World Literature Charities originated in Mr. McMahon's World Lit. class.  Students  organize fundraisers to promote awareness, understanding and generosity toward people around the world.

The Future Business Leaders of America Club is an organization open to all students who are presently taking or have taken a business course.  Members participate in regional and state conferences.  Students experience competing in events that apply business skills acquired in courses taken in the Business Department.  Members also participate in other activities such as field trips, fund-raising, winter Semi-Formal Dance and Santa letters to elementary school children and other community service projects.

The Connecticut Model United Nations brings nearly 500 students from over 40 high schools together for a simulation of the issues and activities of the UN.  Members will visit the UN in New York, talk to diplomats and learn about important international issues in this activity.

The club will meet every few weeks.  Club members need their own camera – any type – also would need to buy their own film and pay processing fees.

The purpose of this club is to increase learning in the area of science.  This activity is open to those students who are taking science.  The major focus of the club is to support science education and to foster future science teachers.  Students will develop science lessons to be shared with students in the elementary grades.  Work on individual experimentation is also welcomed.  The dates of the meetings will be Monday after school in room D5 or D9.  If you are interested in starting such an activity please contact Mr. Witherow.

 

SKI CLUB

The Ski Club will be organizer trips to the Ski Sundown ski slopes.  Plans are being formulated to arrange trips to this ski area on Wednesday afternoons and evenings.

Listen to announcements for specific meetings, starting dates, and details.   Their will be no weekend trips.  The out of state day ski trips will be “peppered” throughout the season as well.

 

 

STUDENT COUNCIL

The Student Council deals with student activities,  and school spirit.  Besides dances and fall kick-off activities, students work to  provide a variety of activities for the student body.   Meetings are open to all students.

 

TELEVISION PRODUCTION CLUB

In conjunction with Cox Communications, students will learn to operate equipment and produce television shows.  The shows are televised on local access channel 15.
