Attention All Incoming Students and Parents of the New Enfield High School:
The Enfield High School Administration is delighted to invite you to tour the new high school. The tours will allow all incoming students and parents to see the building and grow more comfortable with the layout of the school. The dates and times for the tours are as follows:
· Thursday, August 25th from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
· Monday, August 29th from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
· Tuesday, August 30th from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
These times are not by appointment; rather, students and parents can come at any time during the touring hours. We will have student leaders who will take groups of parents and students on their tour. All tours start in the main office lobby.
As a reminder, all incoming 9th grade students and parents will have their own time to see the school during the 9th grade orientation on September 1st, but are still more than welcome to attend these tours.
We look forward to seeing you on these dates and for a great school year.
Due to construction work around the athletic fields, at this time, we will not have full access to the fields until the first day of school, Tuesday 9/6. With the roads and parking lots still being worked on, we have no way to get an emergency vehicle to the field if needed.
Starting Thursday 8/25:
This will affect Football, Field Hockey, Boys and Girls Soccer only.
Girls Volleyball will remain in the Enfield High Gym as scheduled and Girls Swimming will be in the pool at Fermi. Cross Country is all set.
Football (8-11:30 AM) will have the Moody Road practice field lined to use at Fermi. This field needs to be lined for football for Thursday morning. They will also need access to the locker room starting on Tuesday 8/23 to keep their equipment until they move back to Enfield High.
Boys soccer (8-11 AM) will use the multiple grass fields that are set up for the Barmak Tournament at Fermi.
Girls soccer (3-6 PM) can use the turf or grass fields at that time at Fermi.
Field Hockey (8-11 AM) will use the turf at Fermi.
I appreciate everyone’s help and cooperation with this situation. If there are any more updates, you will be contacted immediately.

August 8, 2016
Dear Enfield High School Students and Families,
I hope that you have been enjoying all that the summer offers; time off, vacations, and summer jobs. As you can imagine, this summer has been very busy as we prepare for the start of the new school year in a brand new facility. The new Enfield High School looks amazing and we are on track for all Enfield students to attend this state of the art school come September 6th. We can’t wait to welcome the Class of 2020 and welcome back the classes of 2017, 2018, and 2019. Please review the following information pertaining to the start of the 2016-2017 school year.
Sports – If your child is interested in participating in a fall sport, please make sure all physicals are updated. Students are not allowed to participate without a current physical. Contact the Enfield Athletic Department at 860-253-6524 with questions. The CIAC website also has information on schedules.
August 24 – August 31: We will be scheduling tours of the High School on several evenings starting around the 24th of August. Unfortunately, we do not know the exact date we will have the certificate of occupancy to allow people into the A-Wing. Once we have an exact date of when the building is ready for occupancy we will send out a separate school messenger call with exact dates and times for tours. Tours will be for all incoming students and their parents. We will have students leading tours throughout the building and you will have a chance to meet building administrators. To accommodate your busy schedules, we will do our best to offer several evening tours. Thank you for your patience in this regard as we wait for the certificate of occupancy to be released.
September 1, 2016- 9th Grade Orientation (12:00 pm -5:30 PM): A separate letter has been sent home to all incoming 9th graders. This will be a time for all incoming 9th graders to view the school and be orientated to what life as a High Schooler may look like.
September 6, 2016-First Day of School
Complete student schedules will be distributed in first period. In order to find their first period class, students should print out their schedules prior to the first day of school, or access HAC from a mobile device. Schedules will be available on HAC to students the week prior to school starting. Home Access Center can be found at the www.enfieldschools.org website. If for some reason a student cannot access their schedule, we will have tables set up in the main office foyer with extra copies to make sure all students know where their first period is located. Students may also request a copy of their schedule in the main office on September 2nd. If you notice issues with your child’s schedule, Guidance will be working to resolve these problems during that first couple days of school.
September 22, 2016- Rachel’s Challenge
A program sponsored by Enfield Public Schools and the Town of Enfield. “Rachel's Challenge is a series of student empowering programs and strategies that equip students and adults to combat bullying and ally feelings of isolation and despair by creating a culture of kindness and compassion” (www.rachelschallenge.org). This is a powerful program that is used throughout the state and country.
October 5, 2016-Open House
6:30PM-8:30PM-More directions will be sent home as we get closer to this date but this is a time to meet your child’s teachers. This is not parent/teacher conferences.
November 30, 2016-Parent Teacher Conferences 6:30-8:30PM
Teachers will be available for 10 minute individual conferences to discuss academic concerns and/or questions regarding student performance. Directions on how to sign up for conferences will be mailed home as we get closer to this date.
Home Access Center (HAC)
Enfield High School will continue using the web-based Home Access Center to provide parents with information about attendance, grades, class assignments and student progress. All parents, including those of former JFK students, access their child’s account using the same username and password used last year. If you are new to Enfield Public Schools call the Main Office at 860-253-5545, or 253-5546, to get your user name and password. As a tip, if you bookmarked HAC you will most likely need to reenter your information when you log in.
Seniors and juniors must register their vehicles with their appropriate Dean of Student to receive a parking permit. Permits are $100, payable $50 each semester. All students will park in the main parking lot in front of the building. As this space fills up we will have overflow parking in the lower lot behind the building. We will make announcements the first few days of school to help students find their appropriate Dean of Students offices.
Finally, I hope that you all enjoy the last few weeks of summer. We look forward to your return to school on September 6th.
